About Chris Dyer
Chris Dyer moved to Peru at the age of four, where he grew up in the capital’s skate and surf culture. Chris’ artistic calling was evident even at a young age, when he repurposed old boards and designed his own graphics. He went onto became an art student in Canada and progressed to work for major skate brands worldwide –including Deathwish and Santa Cruz Skatebards. Today Chris is based in Montreal, where he operates his home studio “The Positive Portal” and manages his brand, Positive Creations.
Chris’ artwork has been inspired by spiritual exploration with plant medicines, such as ayahuasca, and his discoveries of elevated states of consciousness. Through his artistic endeavors and life experiences, Chris’ intention is to be an unhindered medium to this heightened awareness and merge skate and street culture with the spiritual movement. Chris has visited indigenous shamans to deepen his spiritual healing and visited over 36 countries to learn from a diverse and rich mix of cultures. Many of his travels are documented through his feature film Positive Creations and YouTube series The Artventures.
During his travels, Chris shares his gift by hosting art workshops and leaving his mark on the land he visits through spray paint murals. Chris’ work has been featured in museums and galleries worldwide, as well as in various publications – including Thrasher Magazine. His globetrotting experiences have shaped his artistic creations to include a multitude of cultural influences on a single canvas, symbolizing the unity that underlies the broad diversity of life on this planet.
