Join the Special Access Program Community of Practice!

In the spirit of collaboration, our Community of Practice continues to grow, bringing together professionals interested in advancing access to psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy through Health Canada’s Special Access Program (SAP). To date, we have over 100 healthcare providers, prescribers, suppliers, policy experts, and patient advocates onboarded from coast to coast.

Want to connect, collaborate, and educate?

We welcome:

  • Professionals who are interested in learning more or have questions about accessing psychedelics through the SAP
  • Professionals who have previously submitted applications to the SAP (both successfully and unsuccessfully) and want to share lessons learned
  • Suppliers interested in providing medicines through the SAP
  • Policy and regulatory experts who want to bring their knowledge of contextual factors to the process

We envision the community to be:

  • A vibrant place to discuss what works and what doesn’t in applying to the SAP, and to ask questions about related topics (e.g., patient education)
  • A place to identify gaps in knowledge and practice, and to co-create resources to address them
  • A one-stop “shop” for resources and expertise.

How are members engaging today?

We host bi-monthly Zoom meetings to help members stay informed on policies related to psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, as well as hold space for connecting and sharing experiences. Our members continuously delve into rich discussions about the successes and challenges they face in their practice, as well as identifying initiatives to streamline the SAP application process.

In between bi-monthly meetings, members stay engaged asynchronously through the use of our Google Group platform. Through discussion threads, valuable insights have been exchanged on topics including SAP application experiences, resources, and more.

We are currently co-developing a SAP Tip Sheet with and for stakeholders. This resource will centralize academic evidence, expert advice, and answers to frequently asked questions about Health Canada’s SAP for psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. Stay tuned for the release in December 2023.

As opposed to working in silos, let’s work together to advance practice and policy in psychedelic medicine!
